Maybe you’ve seen them at Walmart or Bed Bath and Beyond or your local store and you’ve always pondered but never actually bought one.

Fruit infuser water bottles, also called water infuser bottles are simply put a convenient product designed to make you drink more water.
So these fruit infused water bottles make it easier to flavor your water and carry flavored water with you everywhere you go.
- The designs and mechanism of fruit infused bottles
They come in various designs and sizes and the easiest way to recognize this type of water bottle is by the infuser inserted inside. Some products have infusers that can be used with hot water, which is a bonus if you’re a fan of drinking warm lemon water.
The best thing about flavoring with fruit infused bottles is you’ll be able to use the fruit many times before it loses flavor.
- How to prepare infused water
Chop some of your favorite fruits and add into the infuser. Allow a minimum 1 to 2 hours before removing the fruits and if you prefer a stronger flavor, feel free to infuse for up to 12 hours.
Preferably you remove the fruits before they start to fall apart and decompose.
Eating the fruits after infusing, in case you were wondering, is perfectly safe. You’ll notice however they aren’t as colorful anymore and they’re less flavorful, that’s because all the good stuff is now in the water.
Fruit infused water lasts up to 4 days in the refrigerator, although you should always consume within the same day as infusing, particularly un-refrigerated water.
Things to know when using infuser bottles
- Soft fruits decompose faster so you should avoid infusing with berries, for example for a long time.
- Allow fruits to infuse the water for a minimum of 3 hours if you refrigerate, as refrigeration keeps food fresh and will prevent the fruit from releasing flavors.
- Avoid using hot water and use warm or at room temperature to get as much nutrition from your fruits as possible. Hot water usually destroys nutrients.
- Use filtered water if you have bad tasting tap water where you live. While adding lemon juice will neutralize nasty taste, you’ll find your infused water tasting so much better when filtered.
- Remove the rind off the citrus fruits before infusing to avoid bitter taste. Infusing with lemon slices for a long time will give your water undesirable flavors.
- Infuse with organic fruits or use the baking soda water method to removes pesticides from fruits, otherwise you could end up drinking unwanted residues.
- Alternatively, always remove the rind off fruits since many times most of the pesticides accumulate on the outer skin.
- Add herbs such as mint or basil and edible flowers such as rose petals for extra flavor and benefits.
You’ll want to choose BPA free bottles and make sure there aren’t any other chemicals in your product either. The perfect choice would be a fruit infuser water bottle made of glass, however, stainless steel is also good.

Obviously the most common are plastic infuser bottles. The downside to these is you never know whether they’re toxic or not. BPA-free items can sometimes contain chemicals just as toxic.
