Costco and 3 Things That You May Not Know About Them

Costco is just one of those supermarkets that no longer need any introduction. However, it’s always good to know whom you’re shopping from, so the following preliminary remarks might help with that.

Costco has grown to become one of the driving forces in the American retail business, namely the second largest retailer in the country, and that’s because people shop at Costco. Tens of millions of people, according to Costco itself.

Quite the retailing giant, Costco can turn into a real shopping adventure when you’re not familiar with its business model. Just take into account the fact that you can come across a beautifully shaped diamond ring among all the steaks and bulk buys, and you have a clear picture of what to expect when shopping at Costco.

All things considered, even a big warehouse corporation such as Costco knows that it has to deliver top-notch services in order to stay ahead of the game. After all, it’s a competitive market, and other retailers cannot wait to grab even a small share of all that market profit.

Among the many things that it is known for, the billions and billions dollars corporation gains high praises for its Costco food court. That’s right – they’re known to serve good cheap food. If not for their rotisseries chickens, sales would probably drop a whopping few bucks.

Jokes aside, you may not know this, but their rotisserie chickens have a Facebook fan page of their own, and that’s our no 1 thing that you may have not known about Costco.

Selling the rotisserie chickens at a reasonable $4.99 for as far back as we can remember not only does it not help the company, it’s also actually loses them money. Inside sources say that Costco loses about 30 to 40 million dollars annually by choosing to stick to prices at Costco food court. And some people say warehouses are all about that profit!

You mightn’t actually need a Costco membership card to shop at them. Costco is known as a membership-only warehouse, and this usually means that you would have to pay an annual membership fee in order to be able to shop here.

However, if you know someone who owns a membership – no, you may not burrow his or her household card. See above – card non-transferable.

You can however ask a Costco member to purchase a Costco Cash Card for you. This option allows all non-members to shop at any Costco location, not only in the United States, but also in Canada, Puerto Rico and online.

But membership or not membership, customers can still eat at Costco food court without having to own any of their cards. Many locations have Costco food courts placed outside the store.

The big-box store now carries a larger selection of natural, organic and even vegan options. To appeal to the growing number of customers who have organic and or vegan preferences, Costco decided to expand its product diversity in this category, and now includes even 100% whole plant-based products such as coconut water, natural juices, organic seeds and nuts, and organic cereals among other items.

Now that even big retailers turn to a more complex food offering, customers who may find it a bit too much to indulge at Costco food court every time they shop should find it easier to make healthier choices.

Until the warehouse decides to carry vegan meals and vegan pizza at the Costco food court, the main option remains perusing the aisles inside the shop.
