Prices for Breakfast menu items have outpaced the rate of inflation in the last 5 years, according to a new study released by FinanceBuzz, which found that breakfast menu-item prices at 10 of the most popular fast-food restaurant chains in the U.S. have increased by up to 72% since 2019.

FinanceBuzz compared the current prices for four of the most popular breakfast menu items from this 10 national fast-food chains with prices that were available in 2019. This increases outpaced the rate of inflation since 2019, which stands at only 23%, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
According to this study, the biggest price hike was for hash browns, up 149% at Jack in the Box and was between 23% and 110% at other fast-food chains, while on average a hash brown was 77% more expensive compared to 5 years ago.
