Everyone wants to get discounts at the pump, and these discounts are now increasingly popular among retailers. Even the online retailer giant Amazon recently announced that Prime members can get a $0.10 discount per gallon at more than 7,000 BP-affiliated gas stations, including Amoco and Ampm gas stations.

Retail stores with Fuel Rewards Programs
Walmart – Walmart+ members can save $0.10 per gallon at more than 14,000 gas stations from Exxon, Mobil, Murphy, Walmart, and Sam’s Club gas stations, with only $0.05 discount available in Alabama and Oklahoma.
Kroger – This big grocery retailer has a partnership with Shell that allows you to save money at the pump when buying gas from them.
Kroger members earn fuel points for every dollar spent on groceries using a the Kroger Plus Card. At Kroger stations, customers can use up to 1,000 fuel points for $1 off per gallon, while at Shell gas stations, 100 points translates to $0.10 off per gallon.
Keep in mind that the Plus membership is free of charge.
Look for Friday Only 4X Fuel Points on Purchases in the Kroger Weekly Ad to get 4 more fuel points for every dollar spent.
Safeway – When you shop at Safeway grocery stores you get fuel discounts at Sunoco. Shop from Safeway and for every $100 you spend on groceries, you get 10 cents off per gallon.
You can stack rewards up to 20 cents off per gallon, but you can only redeem the rewards for 25 gallons of fuel at a time.
Stop & Shop – For every $100 you spend shopping from Stop & Shop you get 10 cents off per gallon at Shell or Stop & Shop gas stations, by using your Stop & Shop grocery card.
Winn-Dixie – Shoppers at this grocery retailer, with stores in Florida and other states in the Southeast US can earn 1 point for every $2 spent on qualifying purchases.
Keep in mind that for every 100 points you’ll get 5 cents off per gallon at participating gas stations, and in addition $1 off for groceries.
Harris Teeter – This grocery retailer has stores in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Washington, D.C. and North & South Carolina, and is well known for it’s BOGO Free Specials, available every week in the Harris Teeter Ad.
As with other retailers, when you spent 1 dollar at this retailer you’ll get one fuel point, and for every 100 fuel points the discount on gas is 10 cents, but for no more than 35 gallons. Gas discounts are available at Harris Teeter Fuel Centers and participating BP and Amoco stations.
Costco – At the beginning of this year Costco has rolled out new perk for drivers to save extra money on gas. With the Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi you’ll earn 5% cash back on gas purchases made at Costco, an increase of 25% from the 4% cash back that cardholders earned prior to this move.
