Once you find out how easy it is to grow your own fruits and veggies, you’ll want to get into gardening right away.

So go grab those hand tools and a few containers if you’re planning to grow indoors and let’s get started with the easiest produce to grow in your garden or inside the home.

  • Sweet-tasting strawberries are fruits most people enjoy and when picked straight from the garden, they will taste even better. Strawberries grow very well in well-drained soil and sunshine. You can grow them in hanging baskets, window boxes or into the ground.
  • Delicious blackberries couldn’t be easier to plant. They are unpretentious berries that will grow even in a rough corner of the garden without asking for too much of your time and attention. The best variety to grow is Apache, as you won’t need to prickle these, but make sure you give them moist, slightly acidic soil. They will love you for it.

  • Gooseberries is not a first option for many, but that’s because many don’t know just how versatile these fruits are and how low-maintenance, making it perfect for when you’re just beginning to grow your own food. The plant will need lots of water when ripening to reward you with juicy and succulent fruits.
  • Raspberries are probably the most delicate of berries, but they’re easy to grow and you can get fruits every year, only thing is you need to remove the branches that produce fruit so that the remaining ones can take over the following year.
  • Blueberries produce scented flowers in spring and will give you fruit in late summer, so you have two things to look forward to, and blueberries are some of the easiest fruits to grow in containers. Just make sure you plant them in moist, acid soil because that’s what makes them thrive.
  • Honeyberries are actually fruits that do better in containers than in the ground and experimented gardeners recommend that you replace containers every three years or so, because every home needs an upgrade once in a while to feel good. Honeyberries need good air circulation, sun and a well-drained soil for best yields.
  • Currants are fruits that you’ll need to protect because even birds love them and make no mistake about it, they will get stolen if not protected. Make sure you expose currants to full sun and provide shelter. You can grow any type of currant in containers.

Now onto vegetables, it won’t probably surprise you that tomatoes are some of the best vegetables to grow, particularly in pots and containers.

Not only will they grow easily, but they will also be most productive. Other easy to grow vegetables include beans, lettuce, peppers, radishes, Asian greens, spinach, peas, carrots, cucumbers, eggplants, mustard greens, garlic, and you can even test your skills for kale.

Much like with goji berries, which people consider a super food, kale is a nutrient-rich food that you can harvest many times. Although it thrives in cooler weather, people have been successful with growing kale in warmer temperatures with providing only partial sun.
