March National Days Overview

There are all sorts of celebrations happening throughout the year and quite a few special ones are happening right now through March.

With roughly three to seven celebrations for every day of the month, March is when we honor women and their extraordinary achievements throughout history.

We also celebrate food this month. In fact, we have celebratory foods for each day of March. These fun and trivial celebrations put a sweet or savory spin on everyday life as big and small businesses use them for marketing.

Keep an eye out for special sales and flash promotions as per below.

March 1 is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day – Think peanut butter by itself and then think of all things peanut butter that you enjoy. Peanut butter cookies, peanut butter syrup, Thai peanut butter shrimp, or peanut butter fudge are tasty combinations to jump-start your day or add a little kick to your energy levels at noontime.

March 4th is National Pound Cake Day – and a great opportunity to enjoy an old-fashioned dessert, one of the most popular and an American favorite. You will find pound cake at Walmart at any time, but if you can get your hands on a fabulous family recipe, why not make it at home? It’s easy and it only takes about 50 minutes to bake.

March 6th is National White Chocolate Cheesecake Day – white chocolate is only one of the many flavors of cheesecake, however a deadly combination and one well worth the extra calories. Enjoy this contest-winning dessert with a dark sauce topping and sweet red wine to compliment the flavors.

March 14th is National Potato Chip Day – potato chips are a popular snack food in many countries around the world, but probably nowhere as near as popular as in America. The world’s first potato chips were invented in 1853 and were called ‘Saratoga Chips’, but chips as we now know and enjoy, flavors and all were only introduced in the 1950s.

March 19th is National Poultry Day – and if you were waiting for a poultry sale to stock up on your favorite meat, this is it. Retailers and shoppers alike celebrate the chicken by thinking about how boring meals would taste if not for this feathered fried to liven them up. Enjoy farm raised poultry dish by roasting, frying, baking or grilling to your liking.

March 21st is National French Bread Day – the time to switch from regular bread to French bread is here. The French care about bread a lot and you can tell that by the many different types of French bread there are. Classic types include the demi-baguette, ficelle that is often sprinkled with cheese or sesame, and brioche that is often eaten with tea.

March 26th is National Nougat Day – a sweet that not many Americans are familiar with, nougat is different to what we find in the chocolate covered candy bars in the States. It can be soft & chewy or hard & crunchy and made from different ingredients around the world.

March 28th is National Something on a Stick Day – and a day when you can get creative with food and enjoy anything you like on a stick and no one will judge. Since just about every food out there can be put on a stick, even liquid foods as long as you freeze them, don’t hold back on anything. This is a great day to have some fun with food.
