Toys R Us is going out of business. The company filed for bankruptcy just last year and is now closing stores and running a liquidation sale, including for Babies R Us.

Because the time is not exactly ripe to be selling toys right now – it’s just not a time of the year when people shop for toys, the company is looking to sell off inventory more quickly by providing deeper discounts.
Here is what you need to know about their liquidation sale, also the gift cards and rewards dollars that you may still have.
- Savings are available right now.
Although deals are starting at only 25% to 30% off, they will most likely increase in the coming weeks as Toys R Us is trying to wrap up business as quickly as possible so stay tuned.
Stores that have not performed very well in sales are currently providing the best discounts because these will be the first to close whereas best performing locations will continue to sell as usual for a little while longer.
If there are any must-have items that you’ve been waiting to buy cheaper, this is the moment. Only note that any liquidation purchase that you make is final.
- Gift cards are honored still.
For a limited time, Toys R Us will continue to honor gift cards, and shoppers will have about 30 days to make use of these before they become obsolete.
The company has been accepting gift cards since they filed for bankruptcy in September 2017, and although they are not required by law to do so, this has been a great way to encourage more sales, especially now.
If you have any remaining gift cards, you may want to use them as soon as possible because the longer you wait, the more you risk having them declined.
You can also try to redeem gifts cards for cash, although this is something to bring up with your local store, as it’s not entirely certain that the company can honor the request everywhere.
- Rewards are a great opportunity to add to deals.
Another issue that has worried loyal customers is the use of reward dollars and the company says it will honor rewards for another 30 days.
Try to take advantage of any remaining balance as quickly as you can and note that the Babies R Us registry program – Endless Earnings will continue to be available for the next 30 days also.
- Blowout clearance sales should surge in the following weeks.
Although Toys R Us hasn’t made any official announcement on slashing prices further than 30% off, you can expect big drops from as soon as the next couple of weeks depending on where you’re located.
It’s time to brainstorm for what your children might be needing in terms of clothing, toys, and accessories and prepare for one final shopping trip to your Toys R Us.
