Walgreens Free Delivery or Pickup – What You Need to Know

As the second-largest pharmacy store chain in the U.S., Walgreens offers a wide variety of health and wellness products, also specializing in photo services. Besides the many products available at this store, there are various ways you can save when shopping or ordering the items you need at Walgreens.

Walgreens runs weekly deals and even has a weekly ad so that you can find something at reduced prices most of the time. Moreover, it also offers various shipping methods and deals to cover all of its customers’ needs and help them save even further. If you’re interested in how you can save on shipping at Walgreens, here is what you need to know.

Walgreens Free Standard Shipping

Whether you’re short on time or you simply want to benefit from the convenience of shopping from home, Walgreens makes it easy and affordable to have the products you need delivered to your door.

To get free standard shipping, a minimum purchase amount is required, so you will have to spend $35 or more. Keep in mind that this should exclude sales tax and/or applicable shipping charges. According to the information available on Walgreens’ official website, you can also get free standard shipping if you include a prescription or contact lenses in your order (flat fee products are excluded).

However, in case your order includes a new prescription, it will qualify for free 2-day shipping. Also, if your order exceeds 20 pounds, a shipping fee will apply even if your subtotal is $35+. A $0.049 shipping fee applies for each 1/10 of a pound over 20 pounds. Plus, even if gift cards qualify for free shipping, they don’t contribute to the cart subtotal.

Restrictions apply, and Prescription Savings Club cards and photo orders are not eligible for free shipping. Make sure to check the store’s FAQ section for more details as the free shipping offer may be subject to change.

Free Shipping to Store

If you don’t mind going to your local Walgreens store to pick up what you’ve ordered online, you can do so without paying any shipping fee. The process is pretty straightforward as if your order qualifies for free shipping to store, you will see this option during the checkout process.

Make sure to select the Walgreens store you’d like your order to be shipped to, enter your information, and then complete your order. The store also offers you the possibility to have someone else pick up the order for you, and, if that’s your case, you should be able to select the alternate Pickup Person option. Enter the required information before completing the order.

Walgreens will notify you via email when the order is placed, has left the warehouse, and when is ready for pickup.

What’s great about this option, besides the fact that it saves you time, is that there is no minimum purchase amount required, and the order ships to the store you select for free. Still, if your order weighs more than 20 pounds, a shipping fee of $0.49 applies for each pound over this weight. Standard shipping is currently the only method available for this option.

However, restrictions apply, and not all items are eligible for this offer. For example, oversized items and photo orders are excluded from the Ship-to-Store option. To know more about a certain item’s eligibility, make sure to check its detail page.

Free Curbside Pickup

To make it even more convenient for you to pick up the order you’ve placed online, Walgreens also offers curbside pickup, and it’s free. To benefit from this option, shop the products you’re interested in on Walgreens.com or the Walgreens App, and select curbside or drive-thru pickup during checkout.

The store will let you know via email or text when your order is ready for pickup. Once you’ve received this notification, all you have to do is go to the store you’ve selected and tap the “I’m here” button in the notification you’ve received. A Walgreens team member will then bring the order to you.

Some restrictions apply, and this option may not be available at all stores. Plus, select items are not eligible for curbside pickup, and, therefore, they must be picked up in-store.

The above-mentioned shipping options are the free-of-charge ones, but Walgreens offers other shipping methods so that you can find the one that best suits your needs. A few examples are expedited and overnight shipping. For more on these options, you might want to check the store’s Shipping Options and Rates page.
